Biography

Betti Forde and Jenni Craige are both into rhyme spitting, and with these two what you hear is what you get. Their names are porn nicknames deriving from the most notorious of all alcohol-addiction therapists, and one of the most famous so-called nutritionists. The contempt for women, very much appreciated in gangsta rap, undermined their love for hip hop, and »get on their vibrator« just enough to write a parody of gangsta song entitled Run That Train (2003), in which a group of women rapes a man. Their electro-trash-hop and razor-sharp MC-ing are being compared to their fellow countrywomen Peaches and Princess Superstar. Through rapping, masturbation, penetration, petting, fast food and alcohol, become straight satire without a trace of deviousness. Through sharpness and subversion, the demolition of taboos and their bases, as well as the demythification of stereotypes, Stink Mitt are an allusion to the aesthetics of disco aerobics, representative queer members, and simultaneously – due to their unburdened and apparently apolitical performability – transcendent of the idea. ( Canada)

Since 2003 Stink Mitt have gigged from San Francisco, Chicago, Montreal and New York to Berlin and Paris, sharing the stage with The Gossip, Nashville Pussy, Vitalic, Uffie, t.Raumschmiere, and The Eagles of Death Metal. Presenting themselves as a duo on their third European tour they have released two fulllength albums: their 2004 debut Scratch ‘n’ Sniff (Teenage USA) featuring contagious dance rhythms was described by Montreal’s The Hour as an »instant classic« and sold 3,500 copies mainly from the stage; the second, entitled The Red Album (Cochon Records) was released in 2006. Their discography also encompasses a remix album Biker Shorts (2004) and mini album Crime Scene (Cochon Records, 2006).
